CT WG4 - Core Network Protocols

Within the 3GPP Technical Specification Group Core Network and Terminals, 3GPP TSG CT WG4 (CT4) is responsible for overall design of protocols within the Core Network, and to specify the protocol requirements in the areas of:
    • Numbering, Addressing and Identification
    • Access and mobility management
    • Session management
    • Subscription data management
    • Subscriber authentication
    • SMS services
    • Location services
    • Data management and Repository
    • Network slice selection
    • NF registration and discovery
    • DNS procedures within 3GPP
    • User Plane data transmission and user plane protocol within the Core Network
    • Separation between Control Plane and the User Plane function
    • Restoration
    • Above functionalities used between PLMNs, and secure communication between PLMNs, in roaming scenario and interconnection scenarios 
CT4 is also responsible for the architectural requirements in the areas of:
    • Numbering, Addressing and Identification
    • Organization of subscriber data
    • Restoration
